Job Announcement 

Haven of Rest Missionary Baptist Church, located on the South Side of Chicago, was established 59 years ago and currently has approximately 135 members. The sanctuary has a seating capacity of over 1400. We are searching for a Minister that is Anointed by God, spiritually filled, biblically astute and has a spiritual vision of outreach and growth. 
 

Purpose: First and foremost to win Souls to Christ and administer to the needs of all our people. Secondly, to provide administrative and spiritual oversight to the rituals and business of the Baptist Church in accordance with the Doctrines and Bylaws of Haven of Rest Missionary Baptist Church. 

 

Opening Date: 7/1/23

End Date: 8/1/23

Position: Pastor of Haven of Rest Missionary Baptist Church

 

Duties:

• To prepare anointed sermons using the Holy Bible as the basis (preferably King James Version)

• To provide a plan of outreach

• To extend the church into our community

• To continue and strengthen current ministries

• To perform the ritualistic practices of the Baptist Church (I.E. Baptisms, communion, funerals, Marriages, baby dedications, and other needed services)

• To work with the finance committee of the church in accordance with established procedures.

• To actively facilitate visitation of the sick, incarcerated and distressed members of the church.

• To be willing to develop and maintain open communication with the congregants

• To also perform other related duties

Qualifications: 

• Must be a Licensed, Ordained Baptist Minister

• Must have obtained additional theological training and experience subsequent to their call to the Ministry, minimum of Bachelor's degree required

• Possess evidence of efficient fiscal management skills

• Must provide evidence of viable implementation of innovative church ministries

• Possess a minimum of five (5) years of ministerial experience in an organized Baptist Church

• Must be of good moral and ethical character as evidenced by reputation and standing in the Communities in which the applicant has served

• Have provided leadership and management skills within significant groups, professional Environments or other congregations

• Provide evidence of an understanding of record keeping, IRS church guidelines, as well as Personal Financial standing

• Must also have a willingness to submit to a discrete background investigation
